Steam Deck and mobile
Reforged is Steam Deck Verified; Afterlife has no separate rating. Mobile is live on Google Play with 100K+ downloads and a 3.8-star rating.
Guild Wars Reforged is Steam Deck Verified. Guild Wars Afterlife, as a separate Steam app, does not carry its own rating — the compatibility report for app 5149500 returns no category, while the base game's report returns Verified with the full set of test passes. In practice that means the rating you inherit is Reforged's.
The mobile side is already live. Reforged shipped on phones and tablets, its Android listing shows 100K+ downloads and a 3.8-star rating from roughly 3,470 reviews, and Afterlife is listed for the Apple App Store and Google Play at launch. This page covers what is verified for each platform and what that means for the DLC.

Deck compatibility, by the numbers
| App | Deck report | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Guild Wars Reforged (29720) | Verified | Input, text legibility, performance and system UI all pass |
| Guild Wars Afterlife (5149500) | No category returned | No separate rating on the store |
The Verified test set for Reforged covers four checks: the default controller configuration is fully functional, controller glyphs match the Deck device, interface text is legible, and the game runs with the default configuration. Those are the criteria that produce the badge.
For Afterlife, the practical reading is that the base game's Verified status is the only rating Steam publishes for this product line. If Reforged runs on your Deck, the DLC runs inside the same client on the same hardware.
What Deck play actually feels like
Two things from the 2026 patch notes matter here.
Controller targeting keeps changing. The September 30 update made auto-targeting favour closer targets and reduced unexpected auto-attack cancels, explicitly for controllers and mobile virtual joysticks. The October 22 update improved joystick movement and reduced unexpected movement cancels, naming gamepads on Steam Deck.
Mouse and keyboard were untouched. ArenaNet said so twice, which tells you the tuning is platform-specific rather than a global control overhaul.
For Afterlife, that is good news. Skill drafting implies a lot of menu work and quick decisions; a control scheme that is being actively tuned for a gamepad is the difference between a mode that works on Deck and one that does not.
| Input | Status |
|---|---|
| Controller / Steam Deck | Full controller support; targeting tuned in September and October 2026 |
| Mobile virtual joystick | Same targeting pass as controller |
| Mouse and keyboard | Unchanged through the 2026 controller updates |
Mobile: what is verified
Reforged is ArenaNet's first mobile release, and the store listings give a clear picture.
| Fact | Value |
|---|---|
| Android downloads | 100K+ |
| Google Play rating | 3.8 stars |
| Review count | Roughly 3,470 |
| Contains ads | Yes |
| In-app purchases | Yes |
| Age rating | Teen, with violence, blood, suggestive themes and alcohol references |
| PC install path | Google Play Games on PC required to install on Windows |
The ads line is worth understanding. Reforged on mobile has an ad-supported path, and one of the June 2026 hotfixes was specifically about players who bought the game on PC still seeing ads on mobile. ArenaNet fixed it, but the episode tells you the mobile app and the PC purchase are connected through the account.
One more Deck-specific point. The Verified test set includes interface text legibility, which matters more for Afterlife than for the base game: a skill-drafting mode asks you to read ability names and descriptions quickly. A client that has already passed a legibility check is a better starting point for that than one that has not.
Cross-platform account questions
Three things are documented.
Steam login on mobile was enabled in July 2026, which is how an existing Steam account gets into the mobile app.
Purchases and entitlements follow the storefront. The Afterlife Steam page requires the Steam version of Reforged. Buying the DLC from a different store than the base game is the kind of mismatch that produces support tickets.
Reforged on mobile is the same game. The Google Play listing describes Guild Wars Reforged, not a mobile spin-off, and it requires Google Play Games on PC to install on Windows — an unusual line that exists because the app is designed to run on both.
Four checks before you commit
Four checks, in order of importance.
- Own Reforged on the platform you will play. Deck and PC share the Steam library; phones need the mobile app.
- Check your Deck storage. Reforged lists 4 GB of storage in its requirements; that is the base game, and the DLC adds to it.
- Try the controller layout in Reforged now. The DLC inherits it, and the 2026 patches are the current state of it.
- Do not assume cross-buy. The announcement lists four storefronts, and the Steam page names Steam's requirement explicitly.
Weighing the two platforms, the Deck version is the known quantity: Verified, patched for gamepad twice in two months, and running the client the DLC was built into. The mobile version is newer ground: live and heavily downloaded, but with a fraction of the desktop client's iteration.
Checked 2026-11-05 against Steam's Deck compatibility reports for apps 5149500 and 29720, the Reforged Steam store page, the Reforged Google Play listing and ArenaNet's update notes for 2026-06-30, 2026-09-30 and 2026-10-22.
